Crush Bar 1743 N. Cahuenga Blvd.; 323-463-7685. A club focused on comfort, this casual setting offers 60's soul music on Fridays and 70's disco retro funk on Saturdays. After hours Saturday nights 2am-8am with retro, house, and techno music 21 and up. Open 9pm-2am.

The Gate 643 N. La Cienega Blvd.; 310-289-8808. Allow yourself to be pampered in this decadent supper nightclub. Indulge in fine dining and dancing in the open lounges, or socialize and mingle in the cozy twin libraries and dens. Open to the public Wednesday, 9pm-3am, Friday and Saturday, 8:30pm-3am.

Kane 5574 Melrose Ave.; 213-466-6263. Enter this eclectic loungy bar and chill in the patent leather booths or at the Japanese-inspired bar; listen to the cool sounds of 60's soul and 70's disco. Sunday nights, 50-something dee-jay Uncle DK takes you back to his prime time, spinning lounge favorites from the 60's like Sinatra and Sammy. Mon.-Fri., 6p.m.-2a.m. Sat. & Sun. 8p.m.-2a.m.

Key Club 9039 Sunset Blvd.; 310-274-5800. The place where Southern Californians combine fine dining and outstanding entertainment. This 3-level venue, voted the #1 Club in LA, offers an audio-visual extravaganza. Featuring the VIP Plush Lounge, complete with a revolving art exhibit. Dance to acid jazz and Euro techno or nurse a drink at one of the two bars on Club level. The party starts around 10pm. Mon.-Sat.

Lava Lounge 1533 N. La Brea Ave.; 323-876-6612. Offers something different each night of the week. Sun-Surf Music, Mon-Blues, Tues-Drums N Bass DJ, Wed-different Funk and Soul bands each week, Thurs-disco band, Polyester, Fri-60's and 70's DJ, Sat-classic rock. 9pm-2am. Entertainment starts at 10pm.

Luna Park 665 N. Robertson Blvd.; 310-652-0611. Things get a bit loony at Luna on Sunday nights with the "Un-Cabaret" stand-up hosted by Beth Lapides, but you can also groove to funk, rock, reggae, acid-jazz, and Latin music the other nights. Then again, you may just want to grab a good burger or drink up at one of its three bars. There's no limit to what you can do at this cool, comprehensive club.

Tucked away in an alley, this word-of-mouth hideaway lounge offers a different DJ every night to accommodate its diverse clientele. Sun.-Eclectic Mix, Mon.-UK beats, Tues.-Hip Hop, Wed.-Jazz, Thurs.-Oldies, Motown, R & B, Fri.-Eurobeats, Sat.-HodgePodge. Open every night 8:30pm-2am.

The Roxy Theatre 9009 Sunset Blvd.; 310-278-9457. What do you get when you put a 25-year-old manager in a 25-year-old musician mecca? A new and improved Roxy. The landmark club on the Sunset Strip has hosted the likes of Rod Stewart and Bruce Springsteen but also featured Hole and Smashing Pumpkins.

Viper Room 8852 Sunset Blvd.; 310-358-1880. Its reputation precedes it, but this Johnny Depp-owned club isn't resting on its laurels. The motley crew of entertainers keep it alive and kicking after all these years.

The Derby 4500 Los Feliz Blvd.; 323-663-8979. Enter this elegant Hollywood relic, circa 1929, where Frank Sinatra used to hang his hat for a lively evening of swing dancing, dining, and cocktails. Enjoy live Swing music every night of the week. Beginners can take lessons for free in East Coast Swing Sun.-Fri., 8-9pm. Intermediate and Advanced lessons Tuesdays at 8pm. Happy hour is from 4-7, and dinner is available after 5 pm. The dress is elegantly informal. Valet parking is available.

The Dresden 1760 N. Vermont; 213-665-4294. For over five decades, the Dresden has been a favorite among Hollywood celebrities and hipsters in the mood to party or simply to unwind after a tough day of shooting. The club's specialty, a Blood and Sand Cocktail created by the original owner in the 40's, the celeb pictures and autographs lining the lobby, and the original 1960's dining room serve as a reminder that this establishment has stood the test of time. And yes, the famous Marty and Elaine are still performing their songs from the 70's every night at 9 p.m.. The food is a combination of American and Italian. Dinner is served nightly from 4-7 p.m.
